I was on a work trip a couple weeks ago, chatting with out-of-town co-workers about how summers in the PNW typically start on July 5. I'm thinking I might have to walk back those comments after this weekend 🥵
Several daily records were broken across the area today - SeaTac hit 81º, and I'm seeing readings in the mid-80s around the Plateau! Good news is, we'll cool down into the 50s tonight...potentially-bad news, we'll be back in the low-80s again tomorrow (Monday) afternoon.
We'll slowly knock a few degrees off the afternoon high temps each day as the week goes on. After tomorrow, our "natural A/C" - in the form of gentle breezes pushing air from the Pacific Ocean towards us - will kick in, dropping us back into the 70s Tuesday and Wednesday...the telltale sign of this is the "marine layer" that tends to develop this time of year...another way of saying "morning clouds, afternoon sun".
We'll drop to mid- to upper-60s by Friday. Along with the cooldown, there's a hint of a potential for showers Friday morning...but I'm not getting too excited about it. (Neither is my lawn...)
